Frequently asked questions

Why is meme text almost always white with a black outline?
Because it has to stay readable over an unpredictable background. A white fill with a dark outline keeps the letters legible over light and dark areas alike, which plain text in a single colour cannot manage.
Will there be a watermark on my image?
No. The downloaded image contains your picture and your caption, and nothing else added by us.
Can I use any image I like?
That depends on the image, not the tool. Photographs are owned by whoever took them, and many are licensed for limited use only. Using someone else's photo without permission can infringe copyright even when it is just a joke — safest is your own picture, or one explicitly licensed for reuse.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
